I got a notice on TWS about a Burton Island reunion this year. I am interested in attending as I was one of the original commissioning CG crew in December 1966. I was on the deck force straight out of Basic when I reported aboard. I remained on the deck force thru the yard overhaul and up to sailing for DF-68. I turned down Radar School that was offered to me a few days before we sailed. I was able to strike RD for the entire South trip. I was reassigned to WPBs in Vietnam upon return from the trip, so didn't get other than the one trip to McMurdo.
I am mailing in a membership application for a life membership, which should be received shortly. I would like to get more information about the reunion, or be added to a mailing list related to it.

Thanks Ernest, I remember you (after all these years...). I ended up going to ET school after we got back (DF68), then got roped into Navy Crypto school at Mare Island after I graduated. From there I went on to CGC Androscoggin in Miami and TAD back to Governor's Island for ANSPS29 and MK10 IFF school (they kept giving me schools!). Anyway, glad I checked in (belatedly) and caught your post, hope all is well.
